Ovarian hyperstimulation causing ureteral obstruction in a pregnant woman.Wiygul JB, Lallas C, Silverstein A, Polascik TJ Division of Urology, Department of Surgery, Duke University Medical Center, Durham, North Carolina 27710, USA. wiygu001@mc.duke.edu Obstruction of the urinary collecting system in pregnant women can present a unique challenge to the urologist. Although ureteral obstruction due to stone disease is well-documented and ureteral obstruction is a well-known and defined cause of acute renal failure, obstruction from extrinsic compression is a less-understood phenomenon. We report a case of ureteral obstruction from hyperplastic ovaries in a pregnant woman receiving hormonal therapy that was managed initially with ureteral stenting.
